Looking for technology uses during Daily 5/CAFE.

Still searching for Daily 5/CAFE things technological for my students.   I was teaching a mini lesson yesterday about contractions.  I had the SMART Board on and we were going through the presentation.  Students were coming up to the SMART Board to work with contractions.  But I was losing the rest of the class while they waited.  It occurred to me that everyone should be practicing writing contractions as new ones were presented.  Everyone get a white board and marker and let's all practice.  Using a couple of Kagan techniques I was able to get everyone back on track and practicing contractions.  I'm wondering if there wouldn't have been an easier way for me to accomplish group practice.  Maybe there is an app on the Ipad that I could have used for practice.  Does anyone have any good apps that I could use for this type of activity.  How could I have integrated responders in this activity.  I don't have them in the classroom but always believe I will in the near future.  Any help out there?
